Job DetailsJob Location: PARKWAY CONSTRUCTION - LEWISVILLE, TX 75067 JOB OVERVIEW JOB TITLE Estimator I DEPARTMENT Estimating and Preconstruction Services LOCATION Lewisville, Texas REPORTS TO Director of Estimating     GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The Estimator I position at Parkway is the first step toward a rewarding career in Estimating and Preconstruction Services. Estimators play a crucial role in preparing cost estimates for construction projects. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to develop their skills in estimating, cost analysis, and project management within the construction industry while working on small to medium-sized projects. All Estimator I bids undergo a final review by senior team members before submission to the client, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The role provides essential preconstruction support to divisional departments, ensuring timely and precise project bids. Estimator I roles are assigned and directed by the department director. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES   Primary Duties: Analyze blueprint specifications, material take-offs, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates. Identify inconsistencies in the plans and specifications and draft RFIs for clarification Source, identify, and contact new subcontractors to bid on projects. Follow up with subcontractors on bids and inquiries for bid specifications. Communicate answers to RFIs related to project plans and specifications to relevant parties to facilitate accurate subcontractor bidding. Organize and evaluate subcontractor quotes in Bid Tab format. Ensure Operations personnel are provided with proper documentation related to projects and address their concerns regarding bids. Continue to improve general knowledge of all construction trades. Additional Duties: Periodically work with senior estimating team members on larger projects as part of a project team. Communicate appropriate level of bid result data to subcontractors, when requested. Attend off-site pre-bid meetings as requested by supervisor, with some overnight travel. Participate in monthly technical training sessions (e.g., Lunch-and-Learns, PC Training sessions). Support larger and more complex projects quarterly to increase knowledge base. Take on additional responsibilities and assignments as directed by supervisor. Qualifications EDUCATION & TRAINING 2 - 5 years of estimating experience is preferred. Proficient computer skills including all Microsoft 365 Office Suite products. A construction-related degree is a plus. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE   Strong analytical and mathematical skills for precise cost estimation. Knowledge of construction materials and methods used in commercial construction is advantageous. Proficiency in computer applications, such as Bluebeam, Pantera Tools, BuildingConnected, and PlanSwift or similar take-off or bid solicitation software. General knowledge of unit costs and ability to research costs using cost databases such as RS Means or BNI. Familiarity with www.monday.com a plus.     SKILLS & ABILITIES Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and calculations. Strong written and verbal business communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment. Competency in managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced work environment.
