Position Description - Security Officer (Part Time - Grandstand Security)  

Performs duties in providing security for the Keeneland Association, Inc. Grandstand, and surrounding areas, during Race Meets or similar functions. Assists in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment, assists fellow Keeneland personnel, and patrons, as needed. Serves in a part-time employment capacity. Does not have authority to carry a firearm. 

Examples of Duties: 

  • Provides security in Grandstand, and surrounding buildings/areas as needed, to prevent trespass, theft, fire, property damage, disorderly patrons/employees, and other identified hazards or needs. 
  • Conducts walking patrols of Grandstand, provides security in mutual areas by controlling access, permitting only authorized personnel to enter designated areas, identify safety and fire hazards, report unusual occurrences and activities, and ensure armed escorts are available when needed.  
  • Assists patrons when requested, directs individuals to proper areas and assists in the delivery of racing forms and programs.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Must have the ability to read and write.  Must be physically capable of performing the required tasks.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.  

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral instructions.  

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Must be able to attain Kentucky Horse Racing Commission License.
