SUMMARY
Ensures that weapon, alcoholic beverages and any other item(s) deemed inappropriate or prohibited or not brought into the Grandstand entrances. Â
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assigned to each Grandstand entrance to ensure all pedestrians, and their belongings, are screened prior to entering
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with patrons/employees while requesting them to open their coats, bags, etc., for a visual inspection.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with Keeneland Security personnel and law enforcement to relay the need for any additional screening of patrons/employees as well as any safety concerns that may arise.
- Assist with other security related duties throughout the property should the need arise.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, he/she must be able perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Â
- Attend a training session prior to the start of Race Meet concerning safety and screening procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate state of dress including Keeneland supplied green blazer and tie/scarf, and provide own khaki pants, white or blue button down shirt or blouse, and acceptable but comfortable footwear.Â
- Applicant must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work varying hours during Race Meets with minimal advanced notice. Â
- Possess good verbal communication skills and be capable of interacting positively with patrons/employees
- Apply sound judgement and use discretion when dealing with patrons/employees.
- Demonstrate good customer relations and interaction skills and the ability to think on his/her feet.Â
- Operate and work in a multitask environment and have the ability to contribute and participate in a team environment; applicant must be of sound mind and moral character.
- Must successfully complete an interview structured to evaluate their general knowledge and abilities to perform required tasks to include, but not limited to, their decision-making abilities.Â

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.Â

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Â

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral instructions. Â

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to attain Kentucky Horse Racing Commission License.
