Fyda Freightliner Columbus is the largest retailer of new and used Expediters in the United States. Serving the Columbus transportation industry hub since 1985, we operate as a full-service commercial truck dealership and body shop. Technician Responsibilities: The primary duties of a Collision Technician include performing diagnostic tests to find faults, analyzing diagnostic results, and making necessary repairs. Running diagnostic tests on vehicles and analyzing test results. Replacing and reinstalling vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, suspension, frame and braking systems, ETC Checking vehicle lighting systems/electrical diagnostics and repair Completes service and repair assignments efficiently, safely, and correctly to pass quality inspections per estimates Comply with company safety policies and procedures. Continuously learn new technical information and techniques. Examines damaged vehicle and efficiently plans repair process. Works and communicates with others on vehicle repair status. Files, grinds, body fills and sands surfaces, using air tools and hand tools to a primer finish. Directs the work of an apprentice in the performance of tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions and explains procedures to assistant. Basic understanding of mechanical assemblies, cooling and A/C packages. Performs quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind. Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop. Perform other related duties as assigned QualificationsTechnician Qualifications: Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent required Heavy Duty Diesel Technician experience and knowledge Team oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service. Working knowledge of shop equipment. Maintains sufficient personally owned tools. Ability to work independently. Detail oriented and quality driven. Must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening. (Fyda Freightliner follows the National DOT guidelines and tests for marijuana.) Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Specifically: Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, reach and lift.
