Position Summary
As a Patient Access Technician at Madison Health, you will be responsible for arranging for the efficient and orderly pre-registration of inpatients and pre-registration of individuals who have hospital based outpatient testing or procedures. Ensure that patient information is collected and patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Â Â
This is a part-time position. Hours are:
Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 7am-11am (Just one day)
Fridays 9:00am – 7:00pm at the Urgent Care
Saturdays 9:00am – 5:00pm at the Urgent Care
Additional hours may be available if desired. On call schedule available as well for Saturday night, all day Sunday.
Pay is $17.00 an hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Interviews patients or their representative to obtain personal information or verify information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information. Â Enters required demographic information into the computer database. Â Accepts reservations for direct admit patients. Â Obtains signature from patient or representative for testing and/or treatment or admission.Â
- Provide patients all required notifications regarding patient rights. Initiates the Advance Directive process. Â Distributes Medicare IM Form and Medicaid Patient Rights Literature. Â Provide information to the patient regarding billing, visiting hours and hospital specific literature where warranted.
- Pre-registers patients for scheduled admissions and outpatient procedures, verifying insurance information and making sure a complete order is secured. Â
- Consults other departments as appropriate to provide information needed for patient safety and care. Â Answers incoming calls from departments to make necessary patient status changes in system. Â Distributes appropriate information to departments as warranted. Â Make sure chart copies are scanned for Medical Records and auditing.
- Collects or makes arrangements to collect co-payments and/or co-insurance due at time of service. Â Records payments in computer database. Â Provides a receipt for payment to the patient and Finance Department. Â Refers patients to Customer Service when financial arrangements need to be made. Â
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
