About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing specialty construction company expanding its Southern California operations. The company manages technically complex construction projects and is focused on delivering high-quality work while developing strong project management talent.
Position Summary
The Construction Project Manager will take ownership of projects from contract award through final completion. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction professional who can manage a high volume of smaller projects at different stages while keeping priorities, deadlines, documentation, and communication organized.
The Project Manager will work closely with estimating, project management, and field teams while serving as a key point of contact for customers, general contractors, and project partners.
Experience in a specialty subcontractor environment is strongly preferred, particularly candidates with experience managing DSA, public works, or other projects involving significant documentation, inspections, and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review contracts, plans, specifications, and project requirements.
- Manage project startup, planning, scheduling, and overall execution.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects at varying stages of construction.
- Prepare and coordinate submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.
- Manage change orders, including identifying scope changes, pricing, and tracking approvals.
- Coordinate material procurement and project-specific equipment requirements.
- Monitor project budgets, job costs, billing, and overall financial performance.
- Track project progress and identify schedule, cost, and coordination issues.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings, job walks, and project coordination meetings.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for general contractors, customers, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with field teams regarding manpower, sequencing, site logistics, and project requirements.
- Manage documentation associated with inspections, testing, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate project-specific submittals, testing, and special inspection requirements where applicable.
- Maintain organized project documentation using tools such as Bluebeam.
- Manage punch lists, closeout documentation, and final project completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and profitably.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and communication throughout the construction process.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Based out of the company's Long Beach office Tuesday through Thursday.
- In-person collaboration with senior project management leadership and the Southern California team.
- Periodic travel to project meetings, preconstruction meetings, and job walks.
- Projects may be located throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, and the broader Southern California market.
- Majority of the position is office and project-management based.
