As part of theĀ Blue National Security ā Core Systems & Components Team, you will be at the forefront of developing groundbreaking systems that will connect our future in space. We areĀ seekingĀ a passionate and accomplished engineer to own the critical transition of theāÆinternal harnessing and electronics packaging for our flight-qualifiedĀ component fromĀ ideation toĀ development to high-rate production. This is a rare opportunity to directly shape the manufacturability, reliability, and scalability of a cornerstone technology for Blue Originās future.Ā
Responsibilities:Ā
As a Level 4 Harnessing and Packaging Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design, integration, and production readiness of allāÆinternal harnessing and packaging within theĀ TeraWaveĀ flight product. You will apply yourĀ expertiseĀ to mature our designs, ensuring they are not only robust for the space environment but alsoĀ optimizedĀ for efficient, large-scale,Ā automatedĀ manufacturing.Ā
Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA):āÆProactively embed DFM/DFA principles into all stages of the design cycle forāÆall internalāÆharnesses, enclosures,Ā PCB/PCBAās,Ā and electronic assemblies.Ā
Production Transition Leadership:āÆOwn and lead the technical effort to transition complexāÆproduct-internal harnessing and packaging designsāÆfrom low-rateĀ initialĀ builds to a high-rate production environment.Ā
Process Development:āÆCollaborate directly with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to define, develop, andĀ validateĀ production processes, tooling, and test procedures to achieve required production rates and quality.Ā
Technical Design:āÆDesign and release detailed 3D models and 2D drawings forāÆall internal wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electronics enclosures thatĀ constituteĀ theĀ TeraWaveĀ product assemblyāÆusingĀ Altium,Ā Creo,Ā SolidWorks,Ā and Windchill. Perform trade studies onĀ componentĀ selection, materials, and manufacturing techniques toĀ optimizeĀ for cost, schedule, and performance.Ā
Supplier Collaboration:āÆAct as the primary technical point of contact for external suppliers, guiding them on design intent, resolving manufacturing challenges, and qualifying their processes for high-volume production.Ā
Analysis & Verification:āÆOversee and contribute to structural, thermal, and vibration analysis of electronic packaging. Develop and execute verification and validation test campaigns (qualification, acceptance, etc.).Ā
Mentorship:āÆMentor junior engineers, sharing best practices in design for manufacturing,āÆproduct internalāÆharness design, and product maturation.Ā
Qualifications (Required):Ā
B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.Ā
8+ years of experience in the design and delivery of electronics packaging and/or harnessing for complex systemsāÆas an integrated part of a final product.Ā
Demonstrated, hands-on experience leading the transition of a product from a prototype/development phase into a high-rate production environment.Ā
ProvenĀ expertiseĀ in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost reduction methodologies.Ā
StrongĀ proficiencyĀ with 3D CAD software (Creo/SolidWorksĀ preferred) for harnessing and mechanical design.Ā
Deep understanding of harness manufacturing processes, standards (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620), and quality control.Ā
Experience working through the full engineering lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing.Ā
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Ā
Qualifications (Desired):Ā
M.S. degree in a relevant engineering discipline.Ā
10+ years of experience in the aerospace, satellite, or high-volume electronics/automotive industries.Ā
Expert-level user of the Creo Cabling/Harnessing module and Windchill PLM.Ā
Experience with ECAD/MCAD integration and tools (e.g., Zuken E3, Mentor Graphics).Ā
Experience with supply chain development and supplier qualification for high-reliability components.Ā
Hands-on experience with harness fabrication, rapid prototyping, and developing manufacturing work instructions.Ā
Knowledge of FEA tools (Ansys preferred) for structural and thermal analysis of electronics.Ā

Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90Other site ranges may differ
