Job Summary:

The primary focus of this position is to independently perform and coordinate traffic control operations related to roadway, utility, bridge, highway, and freeway projects. Responsible for implementing traffic control plans, maintaining compliant work zones, directing roadway operations, and supporting safe and efficient project execution.


Example of Duties:

  • Performs all traffic control duties independently.
  • Reads, interprets, and implements traffic control plans.
  • Establishes and oversees work zone setup and traffic flow operations.
  • Directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic and manages lane and roadway closures.
  • Operates pilot vehicles, crash cushion trucks/trailers, and traffic control equipment.
  • Monitors work zones for compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides guidance and training to Traffic Laborers and Traffic Technicians.
  • Coordinates roadway restoration and reopening activities.
  • Completes daily reporting and required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of traffic control procedures and roadway safety.
  • Ability to interpret and implement traffic control plans independently.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with company dispatch systems, iPads, radios, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Travel overnight on a minimal basis.


Experience/Education:

  • Minimum 3 years traffic control experience is preferred.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.


Licenses/Certifications:

  • ATSSA Certified preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, Class C, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier preferred.
