                                                                               Wine Service Captain
Department: Food and Beverage
Reporting directly to: Restaurant Manager
Job Responsibilities:
- Present the wine offerings on our wine list and sell wines to our guests. Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders, making recommendations, and providing exceptional customer service.
- Lead the team of servers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback on wine knowledge.
- Ensure that the wines are correctly stored and fully stocked in the service areas for each service and to let the Restaurant Manager know if anything is out of stock.
- Discuss wine updates and wine changes with the team for every pre-shift.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine service, including equipment, glassware, and storage spaces.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new vintages, and wine makers, incorporating them into the wine training program.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.
- Address and resolve guest concerns and complaints promptly and in a satisfactory manner.
- Train staff on responsible alcohol service, maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for both customers and employees.
- Collaborate with managers on staff scheduling, shift assignments, and handling staffing issues as they arise.
- Adhere to the Hotel Standard Operating Procedures (as updated) Â
- Other tasks, as may be assigned.
Job Requirements:
- 4+ years’ experience in a fine dining related position.Â
- First level sommelier certification or equivalent experience.
- Must have full availability and the ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Â
- Valid and active ServSafe Food Handler Certificate.Â
- Adhere to the Forbes Travel Guide Standards, with specific emphasis on but not limited to: Arrival/Departure Service, Guest Services One and Two, Guest Service Request, Public Areas, Hotel Dining, Bar/Lounge Service, In-Room Dining, Pool/Beach Service (as updated). Â
- Adhere to the Employee Handbook (as updated) Â
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct (as updated) and Confidentiality, Non-Solicitation & Intellectual Property Agreement (as updated)Â
- Able to work unsupervised with focus and attention to detail. Assist colleagues as needed. Â
- Oral and written proficiency in English, strong communication and people skills. Â
- Able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 40-50 pounds.  Ability to kneel, reach overhead, climb, crouch, and bend downwards. Â
- Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.Â
- Able to stand on feet for long periods of time and move in a prompt manner between various locations.
