Overview:

Operation of heavy equipment in support of various construction, excavation, demolition and environmental restoration projects.


IMPORTANT: FPM Remediations, Inc. is an 8(a) HUBZone business certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA). FPMR employees who live in a HUBZone, may be eligible to receive additional earnings paid on a bi-weekly basis. These additional earnings will be paid following verification and provision of supporting documents. The HUBZone earnings will continue to be paid if residency in a HUBZone is maintained.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operates and helps maintain heavy equipment such as large excavators, dump trucks, dozers, loaders, skid-steers.
  • Performs daily inspections and reports regarding equipment condition.
  • Tracks and reports fuel use for the equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years of experience operating excavators preferred.
  • Experience operating other types of construction equipment is a plus.
  • Experience working with safety equipment preferred (fall protection, eye protection, hearing protection, insect protection, etc).

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Applicant must demonstrate safe operation and knowledge of the equipment around ground personnel.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • Valid Driver’s License with CDL Endorsement is required to operate heavy equipment.
  • 40-hour Hazwoper certification is required.
  • Red Cross first aid training is required.
  • Training can be provided, if necessary, the selected applicant will be paid $20 per hour for any class time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear; taste or smell The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 80 pounds for 50 feet. Job requires the ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of the projects.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment consists of working within a 2-to-8-person team for construction of pipeline, conduits, utilities, and structures. Sitework also includes movement and placement of building materials, excavation around utilities and structures with workers present in close proximity. Job may also consist of site restoration including site grading, reseeding and surface finishing.

Although our number one goal on the site is safe practices, a close second is maintaining camaraderie and a spirited fun work environment. The current personnel in place are very team oriented and work together to ensure the day’s tasks are safely accomplished while still enjoying themselves every day. The site is located near the Lubbock city limits at the Reese Technology Center.
