Job DetailsJob Location: Rice Community Hospital - Lyons, KS 67554Position Type: Part TimeJob Title: Food Nutrition Aide Department: Food and Nutrition Reports To: Director of Support Service FLSA: Non-Exempt   JOB SUMMARY:   Assists in the preparation foods for our patients and colleagues. Under supervision of the Support Services Director/Support Services Supervisor, Food Nutrition Aide provides food that is safe, and attractive, that is prepared within the food safety guidelines. Hospital nutrition services ensure that all patients are fed according to their dietary needs and restrictions. Your food service experience and commitment to service, safety and professionalism will contribute to a positive experience for our patients and colleagues.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists with the preparation and service of meals, snacks, and beverages for patients, residents, visitors, and staff. Ensures meals are prepared and served according to prescribed diets, portion sizes, and nutrition guidelines. Assembles patient meal trays accurately and in a timely manner. Reviews and follows dietary restrictions and special instructions to support patient care. Maintains food quality, appearance, and temperature standards throughout preparation and service. Practices safe food handling procedures and complies with all food safety, sanitation, and infection control regulations. Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, work areas, utensils, dishes, and serving areas according to established procedures. Stocks and replenishes food supplies, serving areas, and nourishment stations as needed. Assists with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies following proper storage and inventory practices. Communicates effectively with patients, residents, visitors, nursing staff, and coworkers to promote excellent customer service. Reports equipment malfunctions, food safety concerns, or supply shortages to the Support Services Director or Supervisor. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Adheres to departmental policies, hospital standards, and regulatory requirements. Participates in training and ongoing education related to food service, safety, and customer service. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Works well in team environment. Abilities to perform using basic math skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to adapt to dynamic needs of our patients and the facility.
