Position Summary

The Banquet Setup staff are charged with physically setting up rooms and event spaces for meetings, banquets, functions, and events.

Essential Job Function

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Setting up chairs, tables, food stations, decorations, and equipment for the successful operation of events.
  • Maximizing guest satisfaction on every level.
  • Preparing rooms for functions, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with banquet setup, preferably in a high volume banquet or hotel environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and management.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of food, food ingredients, food prep methods, proper food storage, sanitation requirements, and basic bar terminology.
  • Ability to operate the following equipment: coffee machine, hot box, soda dispenser, Bain Maries, beer taps, and related equipment.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use moderately complex computer software.

Working Conditions

To meet the demands of our banquet and event scheduling, ideal candidates must have open availability and be able to work both AM and PM shifts throughout the week, including weekends.

This position operates within event spaces, restaurant areas, and the outdoor plaza. Evening and weekend work is required, and some duties will be performed outdoors. The work environment can be loud at times.

Employees may be exposed to various workplace hazards, including but not limited to cuts, slips, trips, pinching, falls, and burns.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

While performing the duties of this role:

  • Hand-eye coordination is required to operate tools, furniture, and banquet equipment.
  • Employees frequently stand and walk.
  • Regular use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, and equipment is required.
  • Frequent reaching with hands and arms is necessary.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required.
  • Employees must be able to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing.
  • The ability to smell may be necessary in certain situations.
  • The role requires lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The position involves substantial repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
