The Surgical Technologist plays an important role in providing safe and efficient surgical care by preparing the operating room, instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies; maintaining the sterile field; assisting the surgical team during procedures; performing required surgical counts; and assisting with operating room turnover.Key Responsibilities Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies for surgical procedures. Prepare and assist with patient positioning and preparation for surgery. Maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical procedures. Pass instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon and surgical team. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures. Perform accurate counts of instruments, supplies, and other items before and after procedures. Sterilize and maintain surgical equipment and supplies. Monitor inventory to ensure necessary supplies are available for procedures. Assist with operating room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures. Follow all hospital, infection control, safety, and surgical services policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia personnel, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred. Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. One (1) to two (2) years of Surgical Technologist or operating room experience preferred. Previous experience in an acute-care hospital surgical services department preferred. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of operating room equipment and supplies. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a sterile environment. Excellent communication, listening, and teamwork skills.
