Job DetailsJob Location: Main Hospital Campus Headquarters - Madison, WV 25130Position Type: Per DiemBoone Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. The ED Staff Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and emergency medical needs. This position is ideal for an RN who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well as part of a collaborative healthcare team, and is committed to providing safe, compassionate, high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Assess patients and obtain current symptoms and relevant medical history Perform triage and prioritize care based on patient condition and acuity Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans Provide basic life support and assist in stabilizing patients experiencing medical emergencies Monitor vital signs and other clinical indicators and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic testing, treatments, and emergency procedures Prepare, administer, and document medications and IV therapies as ordered Monitor patients for adverse reactions to medications and treatments and promptly report changes in condition Provide patient and family education regarding medications, follow-up care, nutrition, rehabilitation, and other post-treatment needs Accurately and timely document assessments, interventions, medications, and other patient care activities in the electronic health record Manage multiple patients simultaneously while continually reassessing and prioritizing patient needs Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care Comply with all applicable nursing standards, hospital policies, safety requirements, and regulatory requirements Maintain professionalism and composure while managing multiple urgent priorities Education & Licensure Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Active West Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six months of hire Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification required within one year of hire Qualifications Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple patients and competing demands Experience using electronic health record systems Emergency Department or emergency nursing experience preferred Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform activities such as reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping, and arm-hand coordination. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques.
