Our client, an established steel manufacturing company based in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, is looking for a qualified Millwright to join its new plant maintenance team. The successful candidate will handle both electrical and mechanical maintenance across the plant's production equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on electro-mechanical plant equipment.
Diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, cranes and rolling mill equipment.
Fault-find on control circuits, starters, VSDs and basic PLC systems.
Install, align and commission new machinery and plant modifications.
Replace bearings, seals, couplings and drive components.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of routine plant maintenance.
Follow lock-out/tag-out, permit-to-work and PPE procedures at all times.
Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
Work with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability.
Be available for shift work, standby and emergency call-outs.

Requirements

Trade Tested / Red Seal Millwright.

Minimum 3–5 years' post-trade experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or a similar heavy industrial environment is strongly preferred.

Strong fault-finding skills across both electrical and mechanical systems.

Working knowledge of VSDs, PLCs and industrial control circuits.

Hydraulic and pneumatic experience is advantageous.

Good understanding of the OHS Act and safe working practices.

Willingness to work shifts, overtime, standby and weekends.

Valid driver's licence, clear criminal record and ability to pass a medical assessment.
