Histotechnologist- Lab Molecular Pathology

The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.  

The Histotechnologist performs the various procedures employed to generate microscopic slides for our Pathologists. 

• Processes specimens according to identified procedures in the gross area. Properly identifies patients throughout the accessioning process. Enters and verifies correct patient demographic information from the requisition. 
• Performs tissue embedding. Properly identifies patients throughout process. 
• Prepares slides and stains according to SOP. 
• Maintains equipment and reagents as identified on maintenance schedules. 
• Documents for all equipment maintenance. 
• Troubleshoots equipment and procedures and demonstrates a good working knowledge of equipment functions. 
• Performs Quality Control according to established procedures. 
• Meets or exceeds the quality guidelines and turnaround times as established by our Pathologists 

Qualifications

• Twelve (12) months of training in an approved and accredited school of histology is preferred. 
• American Society of Clinical Pathologists registered or eligible preferred. 
• At least one (1) year of clinical histology experience. 
• Have at least one (1) year of histology experience preferred. 
• Must be able to read, speak and write using the English language.
