 Position: Agronomist – Napier Grass Farming
Location: Guwahati, Assam
Salary: ₹8–12 LPA
Reporting To: Management / Plant Head

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Agronomist to lead andmanage large-scale Napier Grass farming and cultivation operations. Theideal candidate must have strong practical experience in commercial/large-scaleNapier grass cultivation, with expertise in improving yield, quality, andfarm productivity.


KeyResponsibilities

  • Plan, establish and manage large-scale Napier grass farming operations.
  • Develop seasonal cultivation plans covering land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilisation and harvesting.
  • Select suitable Napier varieties, planting materials and cultivation practices based on local soil and climatic conditions.
  • Monitor crop growth, yield, soil health, irrigation and nutrient requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective fertiliser, manure and irrigation schedules.
  • Identify and manage weeds, pests, diseases and other crop-related issues.
  • Plan and supervise harvesting, cutting and replanting cycles to ensure continuous biomass availability.
  • Improve biomass yield per acre/hectare and overall farm productivity.
  • Manage farm labour, contractors, machinery and day-to-day field activities.
  • Maintain records of acreage, plantation, input consumption, crop yield and harvesting.
  • Conduct soil testing and recommend corrective measures for soil fertility.
  • Coordinate with procurement, operations and management teams to ensure continuous supply of Napier biomass.
  • Prepare regular reports on crop performance, yield, cost and farming activities.
  • Identify opportunities for reducing cultivation costs and improving farm profitability.
  • Guide and train field supervisors and farming teams.

Must-HaveExperience

  • Mandatory: Hands-on experience in large-scale/commercial Napier Grass farming.
  • Experience managing high-acreage Napier cultivation projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Napier plantation, irrigation, fertilisation, harvesting and regrowth management.
  • Experience in biomass/fodder crop cultivation will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates with only theoretical/agricultural knowledge and without practical large-scale Napier farming experience should not apply.

Qualification

  • B.Sc./M.Sc. In Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture or related field.
  • Relevant practical experience in Napier Grass farming is mandatory.
