Full-Time Child Care Teacher

Salary: $12-$13.50/hr

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Village Square Family Childcare - Early Learning Program has a need for a Full-Time Child Care Teacher. We expect our team members to be enthusiastic and flexible in meeting the changing needs of our program. The child care program is open Monday - Friday between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Job Summary
This position will teach in an assigned classroom and substitute in other classes when necessary. The position will report to the Lead Teacher and the Director of Child Care. The position will be responsible for:

• Developing, planning and delivering developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 1 to 5 years of age.
• Supervising children within required ratios and managing daily classroom routines.
• Participating in ongoing observation and assessment of individual children, and documenting their development.
• Coordinating classroom activities.
• Communicating with parents (oral/written).
• Accurately maintaining records, including daily Brightwheel entries.
• Collaboratively maintaining the facility to ensure safety and security of the children.
• Supporting the Lead Teacher/Director to ensure that the Early Learning Center meets or exceeds compliance with West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Child Care Licensing, and West Virginia Department of Education standards.

Required Qualifications

• High school graduation or G.E.D
• Current certifications in pediatric First Aid and CPR are required, or must be obtained within 90 days of employment
• Completion of Orientation, Pre-Service, and Mandated Reporter training by required deadlines
• Valid WV Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• An Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, or
• Child Development Associate (CDA) or current enrollment in an education program
• Enrollment in or completion of the West Virginia Apprenticeship for Child Development Specialist (ACDS) program
• Experience in a licensed early childhood program

Village Square Learning offers a career pathway for teachers through the WV ACDS apprenticeship program. VSL provides an on-the-job training mentor, coordinates schedules with ACDS classes when reasonably possible, and conducts semester-based reviews to support advancement.
