Description

  

The Plate Mounter is responsible for accurately mounting printing plates onto cylinders or sleeves for flexographic label presses. This role ensures proper plate alignment, registration, and quality standards are met to support efficient press operations and high-quality finished products.


Primary Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Mount photopolymer printing plates onto cylinders and/or sleeves according to job specifications.
  • Verify job tickets, artwork, and press layouts prior to mounting.
  • Ensure precise plate positioning and registration using mounting equipment and measurement tools.
  • Inspect plates for defects, damage, or inconsistencies before and after mounting.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of mounting area, equipment, and materials.
  • Prepare, clean, and store plates after production runs.
  • Communicate with press operators and prepress team to resolve alignment or quality concerns.
  • Follow all safety procedures and quality control standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of plate usage and storage.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts to reduce setup time and waste.

Requirements

  

Education and Experience: 

  •  HS Diploma or GED required. 
  • 1–3 years of experience in flexographic printing, label manufacturing, or related production environment preferred.
  • Experience with plate mounting equipment and registration systems is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read job tickets, technical specifications, and layout instructions.
  •  Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Time management and ability to meet production deadlines
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measuring devices.
  • Ability to work well with others. 
  • Willingness to work overtime, rotating shifts, and if needed, holidays and weekends. 
  • Must be able to lift / push/ pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted (or more occasionally).
  •  Must be able to stand for the majority of shift – 2-hour increments.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp and reach frequently.
  • Distance walking required across buildings and traversing uneven and/or outdoor surfaces as needed.
