Job Description:

Learn basic apiary management at Eden Hall Campus. Dependent on then season and what is needed each week, Apiary Assistant will learn IPM management, hive functions, and perform maintenance tasks such as hive checks, inventory, and landscaping. Shifts run 3 hours long, dependent on employee and employer availability. Students will choose up to 2 shifts that run from 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm during the academic year.

Required Responsibilities:

Assist apiary lead in integrated pest management, seasonal apiary management, pollinator habitat management, and honey production.

Apiary Assistant will complete a research-based project with a project or workshop deliverable per semester.

Requirements:

Interest and ability to work as a team.

Must have no anaphylactic reaction to bee stings for in-field work.

Should be able to lift 50lbs, accommodations can be made.

All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year.

Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
