What we need:
We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of part-time permanent Natural Resources Technician 3 within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Muskingum River State Park located in Morgan County. This is a part-time position budgeted for 1800 hours per fiscal year (approximately 34 hours per week). This position will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What you will do…
- Work outside in some of the most beautiful parks in Ohio;
- Operate and maintain the historic Muskingum River Navigation System allowing boats to safely pass through the only hand operated lock system remaining in the country;
- Act as lead maintenance worker for utilizing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and equipment operation skills;
- Maintain a variety of park equipment and vehicles;
- Interact daily with a variety of customers who utilize the park & watercraft facilities;
- Operate a boat to mark and maintain navigation channels;
- Starting hourly pay $22.60/hr. with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service, with an end salary of $25.77/hr.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT:
Pesticide applicator license as issued by Department of Agriculture required within one year of hire; positions operating watercraft must complete boat operator education course per Ohio Revised Code 1547.05.

May be exposed to dirt, dust, fumes & noise; may be exposed to chemical spray; may work in or near water; may work evenings, weekends &/or holidays; works outside & may be exposed to inclement weather; may be exposed to dangerous machinery; unpleasant odors, human & animal waste, outdoor elements (e.g., animals, insects, poison ivy).
12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in safety practices; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in use of shop, hand & power tools & light equipment; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in carpentry, electrical repair & plumbing; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in equipment operation, maintenance & repair (e.g., tractors with attachments); valid driver's license.
