About the Role

The Government General Counsel serves as the organization鈥檚 senior legal authority for government-related matters, providing strategic and operational legal guidance to ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. This role interprets federal, state, and local laws and government regulations affecting organizational operations; develops and implements compliance policies and procedures; and acts as the primary legal liaison with regulatory agencies. The Government General Counsel safeguards the organization鈥檚 legal interests while enabling mission execution and business聽objectives.聽

Responsibilities聽

Legal Interpretation & Regulatory Compliance

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Interpret and advise on laws, statutes, regulations, and government directives聽impacting聽the organization鈥檚 operations, programs, and contracts.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization, recommending proactive compliance strategies.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensure the organization聽remains聽compliant with all applicable regulatory, reporting, and disclosure requirements.聽

Policy Development & Compliance Oversight

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develop, implement, and聽maintain聽legal policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with government and regulatory requirements.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide guidance to leadership and business partners on policy interpretation and compliance obligations.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lead or support enterprise compliance initiatives, audits, and risk mitigation efforts.聽

Investigations & Issue Resolution

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Investigate potential compliance issues, regulatory concerns, or alleged violations.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, and examinations.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Recommend and oversee corrective actions to resolve compliance gaps and minimize legal risk.聽

Government & Regulatory Interface

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Serve as the primary point of contact for legal inquiries from government agencies and regulators.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prepare and review legal responses, filings, certifications, and reports聽submitted聽to regulatory bodies.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Advise聽leadership on regulatory enforcement actions and government communications.聽

Contracts & Legal Advisory

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Interpret, review, negotiate, and advise on government contracts, subcontracts, amendments, and related legal instruments.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide聽legal guidance on contract terms, obligations, risk exposure, and dispute resolution.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Represent the organization鈥檚 legal position in contractual matters and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.聽

Leadership & Enterprise Support

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide trusted legal counsel to executive leadership and senior stakeholders.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Train and advise internal teams on legal compliance, regulatory requirements, and contract obligations.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborate with compliance, risk, finance, HR, and operational leaders to support organizational聽objectives.聽

LNSSI Board of Directors

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Serve as legal counsel and secretary to the LNSSI Board of Directors

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborate with Board of Directors committees on organizational matters

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Advise the Board of Directors on active legal/government issues that is or could negatively impact the organization

Requirements

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Active license to practice law in at least one U.S.聽jurisdiction.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Significant legal experience in government, regulatory, compliance, or government contracting environments.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrated聽expertise聽interpreting laws, regulations, and government contracts.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to attain a Government security clearance.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 US Citizenship

Preferred Requirements聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience working with federal, state, or local government agencies.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Background in regulated industries (e.g., government services, public sector, healthcare, financial services, defense, or technology).聽

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $207,200 - $384,700. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.
