Job Description
This role is responsible for the analysis, implementation, and ongoing support of the Enterprise Data Archive program. The position ensures long-term data retention, accessibility, compliance, and performance optimization across enterprise applications by supporting archival strategies, data extraction processes, and analytical reporting needs.
This position may be remote, hybrid, or on-site, based on candidate preference and business needs.
Essential Duties and Job Functions
- Serve as a Senior Analyst for the Enterprise Data Archive team, supporting archived data access, integrity, performance, and compliance.
- Configure, maintain, and support the Galen system, including archived data sources, metadata, and user access.
- Partner with application and database teams to define data archival strategies, retention schedules, purge policies, and access patterns aligned with legal, compliance, privacy, and business requirements.
- Ensure archived data—especially data containing Protected Health Information (PHI)—is managed in accordance with healthcare privacy, security, and organizational governance standards.
- Support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes related to archival and retrieval of historical data.
- Analyze source system data models to ensure accurate mapping, data lineage, and reliable retrieval within the archival environment.
- Assist with litigation holds, regulatory inquiries, and compliance investigations involving archived data.
- Develop and maintain documentation for archival processes, data mappings, query logic, retention rules, and operational procedures.
- Work with business users and analysts to support historical reporting and inquiry needs while minimizing performance impact to source systems.
- Participate in onboarding new applications or data domains into the enterprise archive, including requirements gathering, data profiling, testing, reconciliation, and production support.
- Stay current on data archival best practices, database technologies, and Galen enhancements.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business application analysis, data management, database, or reporting roles with a strong data focus.
- Experience with enterprise data archival solutions or long-term data retention platforms (Galen preferred).
- Experience working with large relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar platforms).
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Understanding of data lifecycle management, data retention policies, and regulatory/compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting audit, compliance, or privacy-driven data requests.
- Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, PHI handling requirements, and healthcare data privacy principles preferred.
- Familiarity with ETL processes, data integration, and data governance concepts preferred.
