Bereavement Assistant   Position Overview The Bereavement Assistant will be responsible to maintain the bereavement program to meet the needs of families/caregivers for 13 months following the death of a patient to ensure compliance with all state, federal and CHAP regulatory requirements. Will be responsible for the management of all administrative tasks.   Essential Functions and Skills Responsibilities Assure that the initial bereavement assessment is completed by the appropriate team member. Assure that families receive grief mailings. Receives daily incoming mail and manages any follow-up needed. Prepares daily outgoing mail so it is ready to be picked up. Answers telephone lines promptly and efficiently, as needed. Updates bereaved clinical records to reflect name, address, and/or phone number changes. Complete monthly bereavement audits Update and ensure accuracy of the organizations data base Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities as required Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school graduate required.  Associate degree in business management or related field preferred. Two (2) years data entry experience preferred. Knowledge and commitment to hospice philosophy required. Demonstrates organizational skills. Ability to work independently required. Proficient in working with organizational systems and Excel software. Ability to learn and effectively use Electronic Medical Records system required. The starting hourly range for this role is $24-$25/hour.  An employee’s actual pay will be based on but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
