Job Title: Construction Technician Level 1
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Crew Leader, Senior Crew Leader, Project Manager
Summary: Construction Technicians at Levels 1 and 2 support landscape construction projects by performing a variety of tasks related to planting, irrigation, soil preparation, and equipment operation. Level 1 Technicians are entry-level team members who work under supervision and focus on foundational tasks. Level 2 Technicians demonstrate greater independence and proficiency in equipment use and irrigation installation. Both levels are expected to follow safety protocols, maintain a professional demeanor, and contribute to high-quality landscape installations.
Responsibilities:
1. Work independently or under supervision depending on experience level.
2. Apply fertilizers and snail bait as directed.
3. Operate blowers to clear debris from job sites.
4. Cultivate soil manually using hand tools.
5. Perform hand trenching for irrigation or planting.
6. Plant annual color, shrubs, and trees according to site plans.
7. Stake newly planted trees for stability.
8. Identify plants and participate in “Plant of the Week” learning.
9. Tie vines and assist with training plant growth.
10. Conduct seeding and lawn renovation tasks.
11. Lay sod and spread bark or mulch.
12. Install 2” x 4” header board or bender board.
13. Spread cobble with filter fabric and place field stone.
14. Perform hand watering and operate manual irrigation systems.
15. Install drip emitters and drip lateral lines.
16. Glue lateral irrigation lines and install sprinkler heads with triple swing joints.
17. Adjust sprinkler heads for proper coverage.
18. Accurately review and sign timecards for time reporting.
