 JOB OVERVIEW

The Theater Technician is responsible for supporting the technical execution of performances, events, rehearsals, and productions within the Faena Theater. This role assists in the setup, operation, maintenance, and breakdown of audio, video, lighting, staging, and rigging systems while ensuring all productions are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the luxury presentation standards of Faena.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of performing in a fast-paced live entertainment environment while maintaining professionalism under pressure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of theatrical production equipment, including audio, lighting, video, staging, and rigging systems. 
  • Operate technical equipment during live performances, rehearsals, and special events as assigned. 
  • Follow and execute technical direction provided by management, production leadership, and show operators. 
  • Ensure all equipment is handled safely and maintained in proper working condition. 
  • Support stage changes, scenery movements, and backstage operations during productions. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of backstage, technical, and storage areas. 
  • Adhere to all theater safety standards, operational procedures, and company policies. 
  • Assist in identifying technical issues and communicating maintenance or repair needs to leadership. 
  • Work collaboratively with performers, production teams, vendors, and theater leadership to ensure seamless execution of events. 
  • Maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure or fast-paced live production environments. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Previous experience in theater, live entertainment, hospitality entertainment venues, or production environments preferred. 
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas required: 
    • Audio systems 
    • Video systems 
    • Stage lighting 
    • Rigging equipment 
  • Familiarity with theatrical terminology, stage lighting equipment, and backstage safety practices. 
  • Ability to understand, follow, and execute technical instructions accurately and efficiently. 
  • Ability to work at heights and safely operate equipment in elevated positions when required. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and move for extended periods of time. 
  • Must be flexible to work long and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on production schedules. 
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure while supporting live productions.

This position operates within a live entertainment and theater environment with frequent exposure to loud noise levels, theatrical effects, changing lighting conditions, and backstage activity. The role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the operational needs of performances and events.
