JOB DESCRIPTION
The Runner is an essential support role in delivering a seamless and polished dining experience for GAIA guests. This position ensures timely delivery of food and beverages from the kitchen and bar to tables, assisting the service team in maintaining a high standard of professionalism and efficiency. Working closely with Servers, Assistant Servers, and management, the Runner contributes to the smooth operation of the dining room and the overall guest experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Deliver food and beverages from the kitchen and bar to guest tables promptly and accurately.
- Assist Servers and Assistant Servers in setting, clearing, and resetting tables efficiently.
- Ensure proper presentation of dishes and beverages when delivering to guests.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen, bar, and service staff to maintain service flow.
- Anticipate service needs and respond promptly to guest requests or team support requests.
- Maintain GAIA’s grooming and uniform standards at all times.
- Support the service team in providing a polished and attentive guest experience.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in stocking service stations with necessary items, such as silverware, napkins, and condiments.
- Carry soiled dishes and glassware safely and efficiently to designated areas.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings to stay updated on menu changes and service protocols.
- Perform light cleaning tasks as needed to maintain a neat and organized dining environment.
- Support colleagues in other sections or areas of the restaurant as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure smooth dining room operations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Prior experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality desirable.
- Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to stand and move quickly for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
- Certification such as “ServSafe” or equivalent preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and move quickly throughout the dining areas.
- Regularly required to carry trays, glassware, and dishes with care.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced luxury hospitality setting with varying noise levels.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor dining spaces, including occasional heat, cold, or inclement weather.
- Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
