Job DetailsJob Location: MIAMI GARDENS, FL 33054Position Type: Full TimeJob Summary: The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the beauty, cleanliness, and safety of the university’s outdoor spaces, including lawns, walkways, gardens, courtyards, athletic areas, and landscaping surrounding campus buildings. This role helps support a welcoming environment that reflects the Catholic university’s mission, values, and commitment to stewardship of campus resources. Duties typically include mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, irrigation support, litter removal, and seasonal grounds care. Key Responsibilities: Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas through mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, watering, mulching, fertilizing, and pruning. Collect and remove trash, leaves, branches, and other debris from campus grounds, sidewalks, parking areas, and outdoor gathering spaces. Operate and perform basic maintenance on grounds equipment and hand tools, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, rakes, and irrigation tools. Assist with planting trees, flowers, shrubs, and seasonal displays, and help prepare soil and planting areas. Support irrigation system checks, basic repairs, and watering schedules as needed. Help prepare outdoor areas for university events, liturgies, ceremonies, and special campus activities. Perform seasonal duties such as leaf removal, storm cleanup, snow or ice response where applicable, and general campus beautification. Qualifications Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One year of groundskeeping, landscaping, or related maintenance experience preferred. Ability to safely operate grounds equipment and use hand tools. Basic knowledge of plant care, turf maintenance, and irrigation systems. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.   Working Conditions: This position requires frequent outdoor work in heat, humidity, rain, and other seasonal conditions. The Groundskeeper may be assigned early morning, evening, weekend, or event-related shifts depending on campus needs. The role involves exposure to equipment, noise, chemicals, dust, and physically demanding tasks.
