Field Service Engineer I

Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):

Training/entry level position designed for new college/technical school graduates, interns or incumbents with minimal knowledge and experience in CNC machine electronics, mechanics or operations and related engineering concepts (general repair, debugging, preventive maintenance, routine customer issues resolution). With regular supervision, and assistance plus classroom instruction, job shadowing and hands-on training, this incumbent: 

• Learns how to inspect malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem;
• Learns how to investigate and resolves customer issues of minor significance;
• With readily available consultation of higher level Field Service Engineers, recommends repair, replacements, or other corrective actions;
• Coordinates problem resolutions with applications engineering, spare parts team members and other personnel to expedite repairs;
• Maintains records of performance reports; 
• Provides communication between the customer and the company

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience in Related Field, Skills, etc.):

• High School diploma or recent college graduate in an engineering discipline with less than one year of hands-on experience or equivalent combination of education and experience/training or student currently enrolled in an CNC mechanical/electrical engineering course;
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Basic understanding of the machine electrical and/or mechanical systems

Preferred Qualifications (Certificates, Training, Licenses, and Experience):

• Knowledge and experience with CNC grinding processes

Other (Supervisory Responsibilities, Physical Demands, Travel):

• This position requires extensive daily and overnight travel
• Bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to repair or make adjustments on machinery
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with or without the assistance of crane operation
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities
