We are seeking an Engineering Manager (Centralized Entitlements) to join Zions Bancorporation.  This Engineering Manager will play a key role in leading the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of centralized entitlements and API platforms. You will manage and mentor engineers building Java Spring Boot microservices exposed through Apigee, integrating secure identity flows and enforcing enterprise‑grade policies. This Engineering Manager will also partner with product and security to design scalable services backed by Oracle, modern React/Redux front ends, and automated Azure DevOps pipelines deploying to Kubernetes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Own platform architecture for centralized entitlements (RBAC/ABAC), API governance, and developer onboarding standards.
  • Design and review Apigee proxy policies (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, mTLS, quota/rate limiting, spike arrest, key mgmt).
  • Guide teams delivering Spring Boot microservices (Java) with Oracle data models, performance tuning, and resilience.
  • Oversee React/Redux front‑end integration to entitlement services and APIs.
  • Implement CI/CD in Azure DevOps (YAML pipelines) with containerized deployments to Kubernetes (AKS).
  • Drive SLOs/SLIs, observability, and incident readiness; champion secure-by-default practices.
  • Hire, coach, and grow engineers; align delivery with product goals and stakeholder needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • API & Security: Apigee, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, mTLS, RBAC/ABAC, API gateway policies, zero trust
  • Backend: Java (Spring Boot, Spring Security), REST, async patterns, Resilience4j, caching
  • Database: Oracle (SQL/PLSQL, indexing, partitioning, performance tuning)
  • Frontend: React, Redux, TypeScript, micro‑frontends, secure SPA patterns
  • DevOps & Cloud: Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Artifacts), Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, Helm/Ingress, IaC (Terraform/Bicep)
  • Reliability: Observability (OpenTelemetry, App Insights/Prometheus/Grafana), blue‑green/canary, chaos/testing
  • Ways of Working: Agile/Kanban/Scrum, roadmap ownership, stakeholder management, coaching/mentoring
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and 6+ years of experience within the engineering discipline.

This position is fully in office (5 days a week) at the Zions Technology Center - 7860 South Bingham Junction Blvd, Midvale, UT 84047
