Provides security servicesĀ with a customer-service approach, focusing onĀ professionalism, fairness, and compassion evenĀ inĀ challenging circumstances andĀ in accordance withĀ policies, procedures, and training.Ā

Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and security, including but not limited to inspections toĀ identifyĀ vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire conditions, audits of Interim Life Safety Measures, patient valuables management, and thorough contraband searches.Ā AssistsĀ team members, patients, and visitors by providing information, directions, and physical help. Ensures traffic control, monitors conduct of visitors onĀ premises andĀ confronts unauthorizedĀ personsĀ for questioning.Ā
Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence. Responds to service calls, such as combative or threatening patients or visitors and team member incidents.Ā Ā
Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation,Ā utilizingĀ use ofĀ forceĀ when necessary (e.g.Ā conducted electricalĀ weaponĀ (CEW),Ā handcuffing.)Ā
Performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies such as lost or abducted infants/children, fire, and active threats.Ā Ā
RespondsĀ immediatelyĀ toĀ emergencyĀ and crisis situations; physically intervenesĀ in accordance withĀ training to situations that haveĀ a potentialĀ for injury.Ā
InvestigatesĀ incidents that occur on AdvocateĀ HealthĀ property andĀ completesĀ timelyĀ andĀ accurateĀ reports. Addresses and escalates complaints to theĀ appropriate leaderĀ and provides supporting documentation.Ā
Performs liaison rounding duties to cultivate close partnerships with all departmentsĀ and units. Delivers security awareness education to team members toĀ leverageĀ theirĀ assistanceĀ in the overall security of the site.Ā
Liaisons withĀ federal,Ā state,Ā and local law enforcement and first responder agencies. Coordinates, briefs, andĀ monitorsĀ every law enforcement prisoner patient guard to ensure policy compliance and prevent unsafe practices.Ā
Maintains current Department training standards in radio communications, verbal de-escalation,Ā hemorrhage control (e.g. āSTOP the BLEEDā), CPR, application of clinical restraints, conducted energy weapon (e.g.Ā TASER), to include training on any/all department-issued equipment and/or requirements identified inĀ training academy andĀ the Annual Training Plan.Ā Ā
AssistsĀ with exteriorĀ traffic and crowd control, including parkingĀ enforcement, valet parkingĀ assist, and vehicularĀ assistance.Ā Ā
UtilizesĀ Interview and Interrogation tactics toĀ uncover information about incidents that have occurred.Ā Ā
Completes patrolling with a community-orientedĀ approach.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) must be obtained on a one-time basis within two years of appointment to this role.⯠Recertification is notĀ required.Ā
For North Carolina teammates, an Armed Guard License issued by NCĀ PrivateĀ Protective Services must be obtained withinĀ 1Ā year andĀ maintainedĀ through training and competency assessments.Ā Ā
NIMS Compliance CertificationĀ Ā
Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card issued by the Illinois State Police or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ).Ā
Must meet State of IL Department of Financial and Professional Regulation licensing requirements andĀ ableĀ to obtain a Firearm Control Card (FCC) for Proprietary Personnel withinĀ 90 daysĀ of hire.Ā
Stop the Bleed CertificationĀ
A valid driverās license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicle. āÆĀ
Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g.Ā TASER) use withinĀ 90 daysĀ of hire and periodically thereafter.Ā
Maintains strong awareness of street drugs, gang activity, and human trafficking.

Willingness to carry a department authorized firearm while on duty.Ā Ā The firearm and level III holster must beĀ purchasedĀ upon hire, supplied, andĀ maintainedĀ by the Officer as outlined in the Public Safety Firearms Policy and approved by theĀ DepartmentĀ Range Masters.Ā
Required annually to achieve a passing score of 70% or greater on the State of IL Mandatory Annual Active Duty and Retired Officer Handgun Qualification Course of Fire, un-assisted.Ā Ā Probationary Officers must completeĀ rangeĀ qualificationĀ within their 90-day probationary period and must attend the first qualification date within their probationary period.Ā Ā

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
