Senior Accounting Analyst

Job Description

GeneralPurpose:

Thisposition is a key member of the water accounting team, reporting directly tothe Accounting Manager of the water company. This position plays a criticalrole in collaborating with water subsidiaries as well as company’sparent company’s Financial Reporting and Consolidation teams to ensurehigh-quality internal and external financial reports. This position will reportdirectly to company's Accounting Manager. The position willparticipate in all accounting functions including preparation of monthlyjournal entries, intercompany transactions, and monthly reconciliations.

PositionEssential Functions:

·         Key contributor in monthly closing process:Preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations and working closely withthe water subsidiaries in assisting them with their closing processes.

·         Assist with intercompanyreconciliations.         

·         Completes internal control procedures toensure compliance with SOX requirements.

·         Demonstrates appropriate leadership anddecision-making behaviors.

·         Maintain technical accounting knowledge andpersonal skill development.

·         Lead, contribute to, or participate in ad hocprojects as required.

·         Support the Company’s commitment to a cultureof safe work practices.

Requirements

RequiredSkills

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPAcertificate are preferred.

·         Minimum 3 years of applied accountingexperience. Public accounting experience is preferred.

·         Experience in a utility operation andknowledge of standard utility accounting and public utility reporting andfiling requirements desired but not required.

·         Strong knowledge and experience in applyingU.S. GAAP principles are required.

·         Experience using SAP, QuickBooks, or anothergeneral ledger or other financial software system is preferred.

·         Strong analytical skills are required,including the ability to critically think and apply technical accountingknowledge to business requirements, including understanding the impacts ofdecisions made.

·         Strong verbal and written communicationskills are required.

·         Requires strong attention to detail whilekeeping the big picture in mind.

·         Ability to work efficiently and effectivelywith limited supervision.

·         Requires outstanding ethical standards andvalues consistent with those of the Company.

·         Proven ability to work cross-functionallyacross an organization and in a team environment.
