Description

The Lead Water Heater Installer Technician is responsible for leading and performing residential water heater installations, replacements, repairs, and related plumbing services. This position requires strong technical plumbing knowledge, leadership abilities, and the ability to ensure all installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable plumbing codes and company standards.

The ideal candidate must hold a valid plumbing license, have extensive water heater installation experience, and be capable of leading installation teams while delivering exceptional customer service.

Lead and perform residential water heater installations, replacements, and upgrades.
Install, service, and troubleshoot traditional tank, tankless, gas, and electric water heaters.
Diagnose plumbing issues and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
Ensure all installations comply with local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
Lead, train, and mentor plumbing installers and apprentices.
Inspect completed installations to ensure quality, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
Install and replace water lines, shut-off valves, expansion tanks, drain pans, venting, and related plumbing components.
Perform gas line connections and ensure proper ventilation where applicable and authorized.
Identify additional plumbing needs and communicate recommendations to customers.
Maintain accurate job documentation, service records, and installation reports.
Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, management, and other team members.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Must possess a valid and active Plumbing License.
Minimum of 3–5 years of plumbing experience, preferably in water heater installation.
Proven experience installing tank and tankless water heaters.
Strong knowledge of residential and plumbing systems.
Ability to read and interpret plumbing diagrams, technical specifications, and installation instructions.
Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and safety regulations.
Previous leadership or crew lead experience preferred.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to work independently and lead an installation team.
Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift and carry water heaters and plumbing equipment weighing up to 75–100 pounds with appropriate assistance.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces.
Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, garages, and other residential environments.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
