Position Summary:

Manages and directs flow of power train repair vehicles through the salvage area in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Repair and diagnose engine and transmission control issues.
  • Teach the problem resolution process in the repair manual to other Team Members.
  • Lead team in prioritizing and processing repairs in the vehicle assembly plant.
  • Write standardized work instructions for various engine repair processes.
  • Develop and teach safe work practices and good housekeeping.
  • Analyze field claims to determine root cause; develop countermeasures.
  • Coordinate and follow-up with warranty claims, field claims, and Quality Information Reports (QIR) sections.
  • Understand engine and chassis functionality. 
  • Collect and analyze repair data, investigate root cause of failure. Review process for recommendation of improvements.
  • Lead weekly quality meeting to review improvement items.
  • Investigate engine and transmission removal. Create one page report and issue CAR to responsible department.
  • Follow-up on all open/pending investigations for closure. Revisit received countermeasure for effectiveness.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Team Member may be required to handle hazardous wastes which may include identifying, inspecting, packaging, labelling, and moving waste in compliance with RCRA regulations. Relevant training will be provided if assigned these job duties.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned. 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent desired

Related Experience:

  • 0 – 10 years of job related experience preferred
  • Experience in the automotive industry preferred

Training / Certification:

ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification preferred

Skills / Knowledge:

  • MS Word
  • MS Excel
  • MS Power Point
  • MS Access

Additional Information:

Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
