Job Summary:

Support manufacturing operations by providing fast, accurate machining, tooling repair, troubleshooting, and developing EDM support services that minimize production downtime, improve tooling reliability, and strengthen Tool Room capability. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Support manufacturing operations by efficiently machining, repairing, modifying, and maintaining tooling, dies, fixtures, gages, and related equipment components. Provide additional support to EDM operations as needed.
  • Machine precision tooling components using manual mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and other Tool Room equipment. 
  • Repair, modify, and maintain stamping dies, fixtures, gages, production tooling, and related components to support manufacturing uptime.
  • Fabricate replacement parts from blueprints, drawings, samples, verbal instructions in accordance with production needs.
  • Perform precision grinding, drilling, boring, tapping, fitting, assembly, and disassembly of tooling and die components as required. 
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues, identify root-cause contributors where possible, and recommend corrective actions to reduce repeat downtime. 
  • Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, optical comparators, and other inspection tools. 
  • Support die tryouts, production troubleshooting, minor tooling adjustments, and emergency repair needs in coordination with the Tool Room Supervisor and production partners. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, modifications, tooling work performed, and related follow-up actions.
  • Maintain workstation cleanliness, organization, 5S standards, and strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Tool Room personnel to resolve tooling-related issues and improve manufacturability and reliability.
  • As training and business needs progress, support EDM-related activities, which may include wire EDM setup support and machine operation.

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ machining experience in a tooling, die maintenance or manufacturing support environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and related technical documents.
  • Ability to operate manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and related tooling equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of precision measuring instruments and in-process inspection practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as required by the role.

 

Education, Experience, and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, vocational training, Tool & Die apprenticeship, or related certificate preferred.
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi and/or Sodick wire EDM equipment a plus.
