TheĀ CAD EngineeringĀ Lead owns the digital backbone of how we design, develop, and deliver product. From the engineerās first sketch in CAD through release into manufacturing and service, this roleĀ is responsible forĀ the platforms, data, and processes that make product development fast, reliable, and scalable. It is a deliberate evolution beyond traditional CAD administrationāless about keeping the lights on, and more about shaping how engineering works at scale.Ā
This is a strategic, business-aligned positionĀ with an operational role. The person in this seat will be expected to think in terms of roadmaps, business cases, and measurable outcomes, whileĀ remainingĀ close enough to the technology to make confident architectural decisions. They will partner across Engineering, IT, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to ensure our engineering systems are a competitive advantage rather than a constraint on growth.Ā
What You'll DoĀ
Own the Engineering Systems LandscapeĀ
You will be accountable for the architecture, configuration, performance, and roadmap of our CAD and PDM/PLM platformsāmaking sure they are stable on their own and integrated cleanly into the broader ecosystem.Ā
Own the architecture, configuration, and performance of CAD and PDM/PLM platformsĀ
Ensure seamless integration across CAD, PLM, ERP, and manufacturing systemsĀ
Define a system roadmap aligned to product development and supply chain strategyĀ
Establish Governance and StandardsĀ
Engineering at scale depends on consistency, and consistency depends on standards. You will define and enforce the standards that allow engineers across geographies to work as one team.Ā
Establish and enforce CAD modeling standardsĀ
Define data structures, naming conventions, and BOM governanceĀ
Own release and change management processesĀ
Drive consistency across global engineering teamsĀ
Protect the Digital ThreadĀ
Product dataĀ has toĀ flow accurately from design into manufacturingĀ and onĀ into serviceāwithout distortion, duplication, or loss of context. You will own thatĀ flowĀ end to end.Ā
Ensure product data flows accurately from design ā manufacturing ā serviceĀ
Own product data quality, version control, and traceabilityĀ
EliminateĀ duplication, rework, and downstream errorsĀ
Drive Engineering ProductivityĀ
Engineers should spend their time engineering, not fighting tools. You will improve productivity through targeted automation and performanceĀ tuning, andĀ serve as the escalation point when complex issues block the team.Ā
Deliver automation through scripts, templates, and design reuseĀ
OptimizeĀ performance for large assemblies and overall system speedĀ
Define and deliver a training strategy for engineers and designersĀ
Act as escalation point for complex technical and system issuesĀ
Lead Transformation and Continuous ImprovementĀ
This role is expected to lead, not justĀ maintain. The bar is real, measurable productivity gainsānot technology adoption for its own sake.Ā
Lead PLM modernization and upgrade initiativesĀ
Drive cloud CAD / SaaS adoptionĀ
Advance the move to model-based engineering (MBE)Ā
Evaluate emerging engineering technologies (simulation, digital twins, MBE)Ā
Drive adoption of AI-accelerated CAD ā generative and topology-optimized design, AI-assisted part search and design reuse, automated simulation setup, and intelligent validation ā to compress design cycles, reduce duplicate parts, and scale engineeringĀ expertiseĀ
IdentifyĀ and deliver measurable productivity gainsĀ
Manage Vendors and PartnersĀ
Our engineering systemsĀ run onĀ a network of external relationships, and you will own themāholding partners accountable to SLAs and continuously looking for ways to optimize cost without compromising capability.Ā
Manage external partners for CAD/PLM support, upgrades, and implementationsĀ
Own strategic vendor relationships (Dassault, PTC, Siemens, Autodesk, etc.)Ā
Ensure SLA performance and cost optimizationĀ
Partner Across the BusinessĀ
Engineering systems do not exist in isolation. A central part of the job is translating business needs into system capabilitiesāand translating system constraints back into business-friendly language.Ā
Partner with engineering leadership on design organization needsĀ
Work with IT on infrastructure, security, and identityĀ
Align with supply chain and manufacturing on downstream data needsĀ
Translate business needs into system capabilitiesĀ
What We're Looking ForĀ
ExperienceĀ
We are looking for someone with deep experience in engineering systems who has been through significant implementations from end to end.Ā
8ā12+ years in engineering systems, CAD administration, or PLM rolesĀ
Hands-on depth with one or more major platforms:Ā
PTC Windchill / CreoĀ
Siemens Teamcenter / NXĀ
Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE / SolidWorks PDMĀ
ProvenĀ track recordĀ leading system implementations or transformationsĀ
Technical SkillsĀ
You should be technically credible across the full stack of engineering dataāfrom CAD geometry through PLM lifecycle and into ERP integrationāand comfortable getting hands-on with automation and configuration.Ā
Strong understanding of CAD data structures and large assembly managementĀ
Working knowledge of PDM/PLM workflows and lifecycle modelsĀ
Practical experience with BOM management and ERP integrationĀ
Automation skills (Python, VBA, APIs)Ā
Experience with data governance and system configurationĀ
Familiarity with cloud/SaaS engineering platforms is a plusĀ
Leadership and Business SkillsĀ
Above all, thisĀ role demands the ability toĀ operateĀ at bothĀ strategic and hands-on levelsāable to build a multi-year roadmap one day and debug a complex configuration issue the next.Ā
Strategic and hands-on:Ā able to set direction and execute against itĀ
Strong stakeholder management across Engineering, IT, and OperationsĀ
Data-driven mindset with a focus on measurable outcomesĀ
Experience building roadmaps and business casesāand delivering against themĀ
