​What you’ll do: 

The internship is designed to further develop analytical skills and business acumen in a dynamic and flexible work environment. A great way to assess whether the underwriting profession in general and The Cigna Group in particular are a good fit for you is to participate in our Pharmacy Underwriting Summer Internship Program.

We're seeking curious, driven individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and lead, who are excited to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting to join our next Summer Cohort.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Currently progressing toward a bachelor’s degree and has completed 3 years in a preferred major and/or minor: Risk Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Finance.

  • Ability to learn through experimentation when tackling problems

  • Ability to juggle various priorities and workplace demands

  • Ability to work collaboratively to meet shared objectives

  • Comfortable working with math and numbers 

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • An interest in pursuing a career in underwriting 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word 

  • A problem-solving focus with a customer-centric mindset   

  • Learning agility and a growth mindset, comfortable seeking feedback and making improvements

Additional Information:  
  • Start Date: May 24, 2027

  • Location: This is a Hybrid position out of Morris Plains, NJ or Bloomfield, CT. A Hybrid position means that you will be expected to work in-person for at least 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday and a day of your choice) at your assigned office location, with flexibility to work at home for balance of time. The internship is paid and housing assistance is not offered.

  • Pre‑Employment Requirements: Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory pre‑employment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program start date. Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe.

  • Work Authorization: This position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa support including H-1B or CPT/OPT/STEM, etc., now or in the future.  

  • Market Range: For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate of $25/hr depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location. 


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
