SUMMARY:

Supervises and coordinates glazing, firing and rehiring (second firing) to achieve the maximum utilization of materials, equipment, and manpower in accordance with quality standards and production schedules. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously strives to increase productivity and decrease operating costs through maximization of standard work methods and procedures, efficient utilization of material and equipment and effective motivation of employees.

  • Produces quality products in accordance with the established standards for the products produced in this department.

  • Maintains proper staffing and production supply, and directs technicians and workers to carry out daily glazing, firing and re-firing plans.

  • Supervises tests and adjustment of glazing, loading and cleaning of kiln cars, and operation of kilns.

  • Maintains robots and kilns at optimal operating conditions, troubleshooting glazing and firing problems if necessary.

  • Supervises patching refire products, loading and unloading shuttle kiln cars, and operation of shuttle kiln.

  • Responsible for purchase, incoming check and inventory of production materials, supplies and spare parts.

  • Maintains effective practices and procedures for employees regarding safety, training, good housekeeping and discipline in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations; policies and procedures of TOTO, and labor agreements between company and union (where applicable).

  • Ensures that all documentation and procedures are maintained in regards to ISO policies relating to Environment Management System and Quality Management System.                                                            


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES::

  • Required to work during company shutdown to do equipment maintenance.

  • Directly supervises 20 employees within the department(s).

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Inspects production supplies, setters and parts to meet specifications 

  • Make sure to pass down the result of the countermeasures and the cause of defects including the technique changes that were agreed at the meeting.

  • Responsible for refire, spray and kiln departments and is on call on other shifts.

  • Daily contact with section managers and Plant managers to discuss production requirements and methods.

  • Ensures that all documentation and procedures are maintained in regards to ISO policies relating to Environment Management System and Quality Management System; and Maintains records of production, quality control and preventive maintenance.

  • Ensures all safety procedures are followed and maintains a safe and healthy work environment.

  • Establishes and maintains effective practices and procedures for employees regarding safety, training, good housekeeping, and discipline in accordance to applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as TOTO policies and procedures


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. 

  • At least two (2) years of advanced technical training and three (3) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, Must be detail oriented. 

  • Strong ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools commonly used by maintenance technicians.
