SUMMARY

Provides front-office andpatient registration support on an as-needed (PRN) basis, covering peakvolumes, staff absences, and special coverage needs. Responsible for greetingpatients, verifying demographic and insurance information, schedulingappointments, and processing registration paperwork with accuracy, courtesy,and confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Otherduties may be assigned.

Greets patients and visitors ina courteous, professional manner upon arrival.

Verifies and updates patientdemographic, insurance, and eligibility information at each visit.

Collects co-pays, self-pay fees,and outstanding balances; issues receipts and balances cash drawer as assigned.

Schedules, reschedules, andconfirms patient appointments across applicable departments.

Scans, files, and maintainspatient identification, insurance cards, and registration documents in the EHR.

Answers multi-line telephonesystem, routes calls appropriately, and takes accurate messages.

Verifies insurance eligibilityand benefits via phone or online payer portals.

Assists with patient check-inand check-out processes, minimizing wait times.

Maintains strict confidentialityof patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Maintains a clean, organized,and welcoming reception and waiting area.

Communicates with clinical staffregarding patient arrivals, delays, or special needs.

Performs other clerical andadministrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GEDrequired.

One (1) year of experience inmedical office registration, customer service, or a related front-office rolepreferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpretdocuments such as insurance cards, safety rules, and simple instructions.Ability to write routine correspondence and registration notes. Ability tocommunicate effectively and courteously with patients, staff, and providers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract,multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to accurately collectpayments, make change, and balance a cash drawer.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common senseunderstanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagramform. Ability to handle multiple tasks and interruptions in a fast-pacedfront-office environment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

No certification required forthis position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularlyrequired to sit, talk, and hear, and frequently required to use hands tooperate a computer and telephone. The employee is occasionally required tostand and walk. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and theability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typical clinicaloffice/front-desk environment. The noise level in the work environment isusually moderate. As a PRN position, the work schedule varies based ondepartment need and may include evenings, weekends, or short-notice coverage.
