Job Description

Performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound studies. Obtains two-dimensional cardiac images from patients using high frequency sound technology.

 

Job Responsibility

  • Prepares patient for examination by explaining procedure and process.
  • Positions patient on examination table for specific testing procedure.
  • Transports and sets up echocardiogram equipment at bedside.
  • Performs echocardiography procedures, including transesophageal echocardiography, as required.
  • Monitors patient condition. Recognizes any motor abnormalities including fainting, discoloration, etc. and promptly reports to Radiologist.
  • Obtains satisfactory video recordings for physician interpretation.
  • Documents t+D8est results in patient’s medical record and reports findings to physician. Discusses any need for further evaluation with physician.
  • Obtains pertinent radiological and diagnostic exam reports for physician for correlation with test being performed, as required.
  • Performs routine calibration checks and minor repairs to ultrasound equipment, as required.  Recognizes and reports equipment issues to management for resolution.
  • Adheres to related policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs related duties, as required.

 

Job Qualification

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound OR Diagnostic Echocardiography program, required.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), required.
  • Prior related experience performing ultrasound exams, required.  Experience in cardiac sonography, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology and physics, required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
