POSITION SUMMARY
The Industrial Maintenance Technician safely maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds production equipment and facility systems used in a steel coil slitting and processing operation. This multi-craft role diagnoses mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and industrial control system failures to restore dependable operation and support maximum slitter uptime. The technician balances emergency response, preventive maintenance, and planned corrective work while completing high-quality repairs that reduce repeat failures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform maintenance work safely and in accordance with company policies, established procedures, permits, and applicable regulatory requirements.
· Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures to electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, gravitational, and other stored-energy sources; verify a zero-energy state before beginning work.
· Execute a balanced workload consisting of emergency breakdown response, preventive maintenance, and planned corrective repairs.
· Communicate with equipment operators and production personnel to understand failure conditions, inspect equipment, identify causes, and return equipment to safe operating condition.
· Test repaired equipment, verify proper operation of safeguards and controls, and communicate equipment status before release to production.
· Participate in root cause failure analysis by documenting failure conditions, identifying contributing factors, and recommending corrective actions.
· Perform other related duties as assigned consistent with the purpose and scope of the position.
Equipment Scope
· Maintain and repair all major coil-processing equipment, including coil cars, uncoiler, peeler tables, pinch rolls, levelers, slitter mechanical systems, scrap choppers, tension stands, recoiler.
· Maintain and repair overhead bridge cranes, jib cranes, banding equipment, and associated material-handling systems.
· Initiate crane inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs involving brakes, motors, gearboxes, limit switches, festoon systems, radio controls, VFDs, wire ropes, and related components; engage qualified outside contractors when specialized support is required.
· Perform general building, grounds, and facility repairs as assigned.
Mechanical Maintenance
· Troubleshoot, dismantle, inspect, repair, rebuild, and assemble mechanical systems and heavy industrial equipment.
· Perform bearing installation and removal, with proper attention to fit, handling, lubrication, and damage prevention.
· Diagnose and repair gearboxes, drive systems, shafts, couplings, chains, sprockets, belts, rolls, and other rotating equipment.
· Perform shaft, coupling, belt, chain, sprocket, and roll alignment using appropriate precision measuring and alignment methods.
· Use drawings, manuals, equipment history, measurements, and operating observations to plan and complete repairs.
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
· Read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and technical documentation.
· Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic power units, pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, tubing, fittings, filters, and associated components.
· Set and verify hydraulic pressures and flows; rebuild hydraulic cylinders and pumps when appropriate.
· Perform hydraulic contamination-control and filtration activities using clean work practices.
· Diagnose and repair pneumatic circuits, cylinders, valves, actuators, tubing, fittings, air-preparation equipment, positioning systems, and pneumatic logic or control devices.
Electrical and Industrial Controls
· Safely troubleshoot, repair, and replace industrial electrical equipment and circuits up to 600 VAC and VDC.
· Diagnose and replace motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, sensors, switches, circuit-protection devices, transformers, wiring, and related components.
· Use appropriate electrical test instruments to identify faults in power, control, and signal circuits.
· Troubleshoot equipment controlled by Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Allen-Bradley CompactLogix, including PLC inputs and outputs and machine fault conditions.
· Troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, DC drives, encoders, HMIs/operator interfaces, Ethernet/IP networks, Profinet networks, and related motion or control systems.
· Transfer approved programs, firmware, parameters, and device settings to replacement components as needed to restore operation.
Welding, Cutting, Fabrication, and Lifting
· Perform stick welding (SMAW), MIG welding (GMAW), oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, grinding, and general metal fabrication for equipment repairs and maintenance needs.
· Fabricate or repair guards, brackets, supports, and general machine components when authorized and consistent with approved safety requirements.
· Use overhead cranes during maintenance activities and safely select, inspect, and use slings and other lifting devices appropriate for the load and task.
· Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts when trained and authorized.
SAP CMMS and Documentation
· Use the SAP computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to create work orders, document completed work, and assign parts used to work orders.
· Record clear, accurate information regarding failure conditions, work performed, components replaced, and equipment status.
· Use maintenance history and parts information to support troubleshooting and future planned work.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
The technician must complete required training, maintain applicable qualifications, and follow facility procedures for:
· Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and verification of energy isolation
· Arc flash and electrical safe work practices
· Confined space entry

· Fall protection and occasional work at heights up to 40 feet
· Overhead crane operation and safe use of slings and lifting devices
· Aerial lift and scissor lift operation

Safety-Sensitive Position. Webco has determined this position involves safety-sensitive job duties and will be considered a safety-sensitive position for purposes of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (the “Unity Bill”), effective August 29, 2019.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Advanced practical knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, with particular strength in bearing installation/removal and gearbox repair.
· Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, industrial electrical systems through 480 VAC, pneumatic systems, and machine control systems.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, equipment manuals, and written work instructions.
· Proficiency with industrial hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, electrical test equipment, welding equipment, and cutting equipment.
· Ability to analyze equipment failures, distinguish symptoms from likely causes, and perform durable repairs that reduce recurrence.
· Ability to use computers and SAP CMMS functions required for work-order and parts documentation.
· Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, maintenance personnel, supervisors, engineering, and contractors.
· Ability to work independently, prioritize competing work, respond calmly to breakdowns, and maintain professional conduct in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Regular attendance, punctuality, and availability for emergency call-ins are essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED.
· At least five years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
· Demonstrated experience in hydraulic troubleshooting, bearing installation and removal, industrial electrical troubleshooting, and welding/fabrication.
· Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480 VAC.
· Ability to satisfy facility training, qualification, and authorization requirements for the safety programs and powered equipment used in this position.
Preferred Qualifications
· Industrial maintenance experience in steel processing, steel coil slitting, tube manufacturing, rolling mills, or similar heavy industry.
· Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controlled equipment.
· Experience with VFDs, servo drives, DC drives, HMIs, encoders, Ethernet/IP, and Profinet.
· Experience maintaining overhead bridge cranes, coil-handling equipment, hydraulic power units, and steel banding equipment.
· Industrial maintenance, electrical, welding, or related technical education or certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Frequently stand and walk on concrete floors during an eight-hour shift; bend, twist, kneel, crouch, squat, push, pull, reach, climb, and work overhead.
· Work in, under, around, and on production equipment, sometimes in tight or awkward positions.
· Lift and carry up to 50 pounds without mechanical assistance and use approved lifting devices or team lifting for heavier loads.
· Use hands and arms for gripping, turning, pulling, pushing, hammering, measuring, welding, cutting, grinding, and operating tools that may vibrate.
· Maintain balance while working on uneven, slippery, or elevated surfaces.
· Occasionally work at heights up to approximately 40 feet while using required fall-protection systems.
· Possess vision and hearing, with correction if needed, sufficient to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Work is performed primarily in a heavy industrial steel-processing environment, with additional work outdoors and throughout buildings and grounds.
· Regular exposure to loud and prolonged noise, moving machinery, overhead cranes, metal edges, oils, lubricants, welding fumes, dust, and hot-work activities.
· Exposure to seasonal heat and cold and to changing temperatures within the facility.
· Required personal protective equipment may include safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, gloves, welding protection, arc-rated clothing, fall protection, and respiratory protection as applicable to the task.
· The work can be fast-paced and may require immediate response to production interruptions and equipment emergencies.
WORK SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY
· Regular schedule consists of eight-hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
· Hours may vary based on production needs, outages, planned repairs, and business requirements.
· Emergency call-ins and work outside the regularly scheduled shift are required as necessary.
CLASSIFICATION AND PAY
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The employee will be assigned an appropriate pay rate in accordance with applicable Webco wage structure and administration policies.
