Bathing Water Operations
路 Monitor and maintain swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, children鈥檚 pools, splash pads, and other bathing facilities.
路 Test and document water chemistry at required intervals, including:
o Free and combined chlorine or applicable disinfectant levels.
o pH.
o Total alkalinity.
o Calcium hardness.
o Cyanuric acid where applicable.
o Water temperature.
o Other parameters required by applicable regulations or resort procedures.
路 Adjust chemical levels safely and accurately to maintain required operating ranges.
路 Monitor automated chemical-feed and water-treatment systems.
路 Inspect and maintain pumps, filters, strainers, heaters, heat exchangers, chemical feeders, controllers, valves, circulation systems, and related equipment.
路 Maintain proper circulation, filtration, turnover, and water levels.
路 Perform or coordinate filter cleaning, backwashing, media maintenance, and other scheduled water-treatment procedures.
路 Inspect pool surfaces, drains, skimmers, return fittings, ladders, handrails, covers, grates, and other components for proper condition.
路 Monitor pool water clarity and immediately investigate abnormal discoloration, odors, foaming, or other water-quality concerns.
路 Respond promptly to water-quality problems, equipment failures, contamination events, and other aquatic emergencies.
路 Follow established procedures for pool closures, chemical treatment, contamination response, and reopening.
路 Maintain accurate daily operating logs, chemical records, equipment readings, inspections, and maintenance documentation.
Non-Bathing Bodies of Water
路 Monitor and maintain non-bathing water features, including decorative ponds, lagoons, fountains, reflecting pools, and similar resort water features.
路 Inspect pumps, circulation systems, filters, aeration equipment, fountains, skimmers, and water-feature controls.
路 Maintain appropriate water levels and circulation.
路 Monitor water appearance, odor, algae growth, debris, and other conditions affecting appearance or environmental quality.
路 Perform or coordinate cleaning, algae control, debris removal, and preventive maintenance.
路 Ensure non-bathing areas are appropriately identified and maintained to prevent guest access where required.
路 Coordinate with Engineering and approved contractors for specialized treatment or maintenance.
路 Follow applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements for non-bathing water systems.
Chemical Handling and Safety
路 Safely receive, store, handle, transport, and use pool chemicals and water-treatment products.
路 Maintain proper separation and storage of incompatible chemicals.
路 Inspect chemical storage areas, ventilation, containment, labeling, and safety equipment.
路 Maintain chemical inventories and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.
路 Follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS), manufacturer instructions, resort procedures, and applicable regulations.
路 Use appropriate PPE when handling chemicals.
路 Follow lockout/tagout procedures when servicing pumps, motors, chemical-feed systems, and other equipment.
路 Immediately report chemical spills, leaks, exposure incidents, equipment hazards, and unsafe conditions.
Preventive Maintenance
路 Establish and perform routine inspections of aquatic equipment and water-treatment systems.
路 Identify potential equipment failures before they affect guests or water quality.
路 Replace or coordinate replacement of worn pumps, seals, valves, filters, gauges, tubing, fittings, and other components.
路 Maintain pool equipment rooms, chemical rooms, pump rooms, and surrounding service areas in a clean and organized condition.
路 Coordinate major repairs with the Engineering Department and qualified outside contractors.
路 Maintain preventive-maintenance schedules and work orders through the resort鈥檚 CMMS when applicable.
Guest Safety and Facility Inspection
路 Conduct routine inspections of pool decks, surrounding areas, access points, signage, safety equipment, and aquatic facilities.
路 Report or correct unsafe conditions immediately.
路 Ensure required pool safety equipment is accessible and in serviceable condition.
路 Monitor for hazards such as slippery surfaces, damaged grates, loose handrails, inadequate signage, electrical hazards, and chemical leaks.
路 Coordinate with Lifeguards, Recreation, Security, and management regarding pool closures and safety concerns.
路 Assist with emergency response procedures involving aquatic facilities when required.
路 Maintain a professional and guest-focused presence while working in guest areas.
Regulatory and Documentation Responsibilities
路 Maintain current Certified Pool Operator certification and any additional licenses or credentials required by the applicable jurisdiction.
路 Ensure aquatic operations comply with applicable health department, environmental, safety, and resort requirements.
路 Maintain required inspection reports, water-quality logs, chemical records, maintenance records, and incident documentation.
路 Prepare facilities and records for regulatory inspections.
路 Immediately notify management of conditions that may require closure or regulatory notification.
路 Stay current on changes to applicable pool, spa, water-treatment, chemical-safety, and environmental requirements.
