Job Summary:  Responsible for ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on CNC machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations and manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications.  Troubleshooting malfunctions and repair where necessary.   

 

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Receive work orders, identify faulty equipment and acquire parts and equipment to complete repairs.  

  • Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain production equipment from basic hydraulic equipment to complex CNC machinery, performing both electrical and mechanical work, 

  • Complete projects such as mechanical and electrical hardware and software upgrades, calibrations and retrofits. 

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, level, plumb bobs, and straight edges.  

  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.  

  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop tools and equipment. 

  • Review production specifications, identify and report capacity restraints.   

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. 

  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.  

  • Maintain and acquire new technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and establishing personal networks.  

  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.  

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 
Education and Experience:  

  • Highschool diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 6 months industry related experience and/or training.  

  • Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machine maintenance is ideal but not required. 

  • 2+ years of equipment maintenance in a machine shop environment is required.  

  • Experience with CNC repair and/or robotics is required.  

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office knowledge and/or Computerized Maintenance Management System is desired.  

 

 
Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability. 

  • Ability to perform maintenance functions such as replacing spindles, ball screws, bearings, slides and other components of machine tools. 

  • Ability to coordinate and  prioritize daily workload based on capacity and customer demands. 

  • Proficient in MS Office.  

  • Excellent communication, project management and organizational skills.  

  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems. 

  • Demonstrated ability to perform electrical, mechanical and hydraulic repairs used in electrical and mechanical maintenance technician work assignments.  

  • High ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and perform repairs.  

  • Ability to follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications.  

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of standing with some lifting, bending, and twisting.  

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 

  • Ability to stoop, bend or kneel when required.
