The Long-Term Substitute will assume responsibility for maintaining a positive, productive learning environment and will work closely with the classroom teacher, division leadership, and other faculty and staff to ensure continuity of instruction and student support. This is a temporary position for an individual who is able to commit to a longer-term classroom assignment. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in working with school-aged children. Responsibilities Provide instruction and classroom support in accordance with lesson plans and scope and sequence. Maintain a positive, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment. Supervise and support students throughout the school day, including during transitions and other assigned duties. Communicate regularly with the Grade Level Coordinator, division leadership, and appropriate faculty and staff regarding student needs and classroom activities. Maintain accurate records related to attendance, assignments, and student progress as appropriate. Follow USN policies and procedures related to student safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct. Collaborate with colleagues to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students. Adapt to changing classroom needs while maintaining consistency and continuity for students. QualificationsQualifications College degree required. Previous lower school teaching experience required. Strong computer and technology skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues. Skills and Abilities Maintain a positive, welcoming, and professional demeanor. Organize and manage multiple responsibilities with close attention to detail. Work independently as well as collaboratively with adults and school-aged children. Communicate accurately, clearly, and concisely. Exercise sound judgment and demonstrate flexibility in a busy school environment. Demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality. Create a supportive and respectful learning environment for all students. Compensation Compensation will be based on the length and scope of the long-term assignment and will be discussed during the hiring process.
