Job Overview

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Process Technician is responsible for tuning and troubleshooting extrusion tooling and processes. He/she is also responsible for assisting in training Production personnel on extrusion processing and implementing new tooling. This position requires a high level of work commitment, the ability to work independently, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and follow plans. 

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct trials with new and existing tooling (i.e., dies, sizers, etc.) to ensure parts meet specifications established by the customer, working with engineering to make recommendations for appropriate adjustments as necessary
  • Perform process improvements for manufacturing process: (i.e., review and examine process to increase productivity, line speed, reduction in scrap, increase efficiencies in set up and tear down processes, troubleshoot performance issues, and determine new processes)
  • Development of documents, instructions, and/or procedures to support process improvement initiatives for manufacturing personnel and implement changes
  • Assist in the training and development of operators when required
  • Assist maintenance in equipment repair as needs arise 
  • Collect and record data on process conditions for analysis and generate reports
  • Clean and maintain extrusion tooling used 
  • Assist the Engineering Department as needed (i.e., polishing, grinding, etc.)
  • Assist the Production Department as needed (i.e., include running an extrusion line, etc.)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area 
  • Order parts or supplies as needed
  • May be required to work long days and weekends
  • Fill in for the Shift Lead as required
  • Other Duties as Assigned 

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of experience in profile extrusion.
  • Reliance on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Maintenance experience a plus
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of machinery, small hand tools, and precision measuring devices.
