Job Summary

The Part-Time Kindergarten Music Teacher provides age-appropriate music instruction that introduces young students to basic musical concepts, singing, rhythm, movement, and creative expression. The teacher creates an engaging, positive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment while supporting the school's educational goals and, when applicable, its Catholic identity and mission.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate music lessons for kindergarten students.
  • Introduce students to basic musical concepts, including rhythm, beat, melody, tempo, dynamics, and musical vocabulary.
  • Teach songs, singing techniques, movement, and simple musical activities.
  • Use age-appropriate instruments, music, games, and creative activities to encourage participation and musical development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages confidence, creativity, and enjoyment of music.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom routines and manage student behavior effectively.
  • Assess student participation and progress and provide age-appropriate feedback.
  • Prepare students for school programs, performances, seasonal celebrations, or other musical activities as assigned.
  • Maintain classroom materials, instruments, and equipment in an organized and safe manner.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support student learning and school activities.
  • Incorporate Catholic music, prayer, and faith-based themes into instruction as appropriate to the school's curriculum and mission.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures, including student safety and child protection requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and school information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching music to young children preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of basic music education concepts and age-appropriate instructional practices.
  • Ability to engage and manage kindergarten-aged students in a positive and energetic manner.
