About the Role:

The Apprentice Electrician will support disaster response and recovery operations following Tropical Storm Bertha's landfall in southern Louisiana. Working under the supervision of licensed electricians, the Apprentice Electrician will assist with restoring electrical systems, supporting emergency repairs, and helping return critical infrastructure and public services to operation safely and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous Electrical Experience.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical tools, materials, and safety practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours, including weekends, as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience assisting with commercial, industrial, or infrastructure electrical projects.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience supporting disaster recovery or emergency response operations.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Enrollment in or completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist licensed electricians with the installation, repair, and restoration of electrical systems.
  • Support recovery operations for public facilities and critical infrastructure.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Pull wire, install conduit, and assist with electrical equipment installation.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Follow all safety procedures and project requirements.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
  • Complete assigned tasks to support timely disaster recovery efforts.

Skills:

The required skills such as basic electrical knowledge and the ability to follow instructions are essential for safely assisting in electrical installations and repairs.
