The Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular will be responsible for studying the genetic, biochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying favorable and unfavorable responses to chemotherapy in mammary tumor model systems.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient research skills and the ability to effectively perform molecular and cell biological experiments and other such related scientific techniques.
  • Strong computer skills, including an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software applications, as well as bioinformatics pipelines in R-studio.  
  • Solid analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to read literature and understand its content and scientifically critique studies.
  • Ability to independently work on research assignments and create new projects, as assigned by the PI.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team with all members of the lab.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.  
  • Ability to give oral presentations of experimental results in lab meetings, seminars, and research conferences.
     

SPECIAL REQUIRED ABILITY FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:

Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University’s Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis.  
 

REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:

Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment.  For identified jobs, drug screening will also be required. The background investigation required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.   

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Ph.D. or M.D.
  • Prior research experience in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, mouse models, and cancer research.
