Job Summary: 

The SQL Developer, Data Conversion Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining SQL databases, as well as managing data conversion projects. This role involves extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from legacy systems or spreadsheets into new database platforms, ensuring data integrity and accuracy throughout the process.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data access, manipulation, and reporting.
  • Perform ETL processes to ensure accurate and complete data migrations.
  • Collaborate with technical and functional teams to resolve data inconsistencies or issues.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their data structure and requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of data conversion processes, mappings, and configurations.
  • Contribute to the development of tools, templates, and procedures to improve data conversion efficiency and accuracy.
  • Escalate issues to the Project Manager and Team Lead when appropriate to ensure risks are mitigated and client expectations are met.
  • Provide subject matter expert support both internally and externally.


 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Proven experience as a SQL Developer and Data Conversion Specialist.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle).


 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service focus, a positive attitude, possess strong influencing and communication skills, as well as possess a sense of urgency and resolve technical issues
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team to resolve issues
  • Work experience in a public service environment (Engineering or Utilities experience preferred)


Work Environment: 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
  • This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
  • The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
