TITLE: Application Specialist

DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Application Specialist in New York, NY to lead production support for business-critical prime services application systems. Coordinate support activities across global teams located in the United States, Canada, Ireland, The United Kingdom, and India. Ensure platform resilience and operational efficiency by supporting key processes and applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, and technology support to implement enhancements and resolve production issues. Manage incident response during critical application outages, coordinating with stakeholders and maintaining communication throughout the incident lifecycle. Administer the problem management process using the servicenow tool. Regularly utilize JIRA to manage production issues, track change requests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, QA, and business analysts. Evaluate existing workflows and recommend enhancements to improve performance and efficiency. Participate in the planning and execution of application changes and release deployments. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to address audit-related queries and action items. Maintain and update prime services support run books, ensuring offshore teams are promptly informed of any changes to support procedures.


REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, or a related field, and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation: managing production issues and tracking change requests utilizing Atlassian Jira with experience coordinating numerous application releases. Administering incident and problem management processes utilizing ServiceNow including handling critical application outages through effective stakeholder communication and coordination. Utilizing MS Excel, Unix/Linux systems, and SQL for generating daily and ad-hoc reports, analyzing complex database queries, and troubleshooting production issues, supporting operational, analytical, and business requirements. Working with Prime Services, Stock Lending and Borrowing, and Prime Brokerage, including managing critical tools for front, middle, and back-office operations. Working with electronic trading platforms including Order Management Systems (OMS) and Execution Management Systems (EMS) for trade capture, position management, settlement, and collateral management. Providing global production support to maintain platform stability and operational resilience. Working with Agile software development methodologies and utilizing DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD), to support and coordinate release management activities. Managing critical tools for use in Front Office trading to enable efficient risk management utilizing Splunk, VBA, Python, and monitoring tools including Geneos and Grafana. Utilizing experience in prime services, equities, flow, structured notes business, trade bookings, market data, trade life cycle, pricing, and valuations. Conducting critical changes to Front Office applications including maintaining Cloud servers and managing in-house Windows and Unix server environments for all Front Office applications. Employer will accept 2 years of related work experience as satisfying the Bachelor's degree requirement. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
